Woman Refuses to Leave Kroger and Gives False Name
Police are called to a Kroger after store management says they want a woman removed and banned from the store. The video does not show what happened before officers arrived. A store employee later says the woman had been bothering customers and making comments about masks. The woman denies causing a disturbance.
Wearing a colorful headwrap, patterned clothes, and glasses, she repeatedly asks officers for a legal reason to remove her. She also refuses to give her name or ID, saying she has not committed a crime and does not have to identify herself.
More officers arrive, and a supervisor tells her she must provide her name during the investigation. She eventually tells officers to arrest her and is placed in handcuffs.
She gives the surname "Prouty," then later admits it is actually her sister's name. Officers search her wallet for her driver's license. While they do this, she shouts that they are robbing her. The video shows the wallet search, but does not show that any money was taken.
She is placed in a patrol car, given a trespass notice and summons, and told she will be driven home instead of taken to jail.
Do you think she made the situation harder than it needed to be?
